SOLISⁿ

Access Is Solved.
Accuracy Is Not.

Everyone should be able to connect an AI model to the mainframe. We make sure the answer it gives you is right, and early enough to act on.

We decode and curate the data before the model sees it.

Short answer: the partitions never peaked together. Headroom is read at the peak of summed usage, not by adding each partition's peak. The interval and the CPU-busy view are named.

Our mission

Make every AI answer about the mainframe one you can check, and early enough to act on.

Grounded adj.

What we mean when we say it.

01

Grounded in the data.

Not in documentation or a model's general knowledge. The answer comes from your own system data, decoded and curated before the model reads it.

02

States its basis.

Each answer names what it read, the interval it covers and what was checked first, so anyone on the team can check it.

03

Early enough to act on.

A right answer that arrives after the incident is a post-mortem. Grounded answers come while there is still time to decide.

Five Forces. One Question.

Connecting AI to live mainframe data is now routine. Access means the model can read your systems. Accuracy means you can trust what it tells you, and that is the harder question.

  • AI pressure from every boardroom.
  • Decades of SMF convention that a model cannot infer.
  • The experts with deep system knowledge, who catch a wrong number, are retiring.
  • Access to the data is now routine.
  • A wrong answer, acted on at machine speed.

Is the answer right?

What a Right Answer Is Worth.

In banking, government and retail, a wrong number has to be explained afterwards. Here is what a right answer means for each team that runs IBM Z.

Heads of mainframe and platform owners

Say yes to AI on IBM Z without betting on an answer nobody can check.

Take an AI programme for the mainframe to the board that states its basis, not just its confidence.

Systems programmers and capacity

Stop spending the morning proving an AI answer wrong.

CPU busy kept to its three meanings, sysplex capacity added up as the peak of sums, and capacity warnings that arrive with the cause.

Operations and resilience

Know when silence means a gap, not a quiet night.

Answers that check collection and coverage first, so a missing feed is never reported as all clear and an incident review starts from dated facts.

Newer engineers and the teams training them

Read SMF like someone with thirty years on the platform.

The conventions retiring experts carry in their heads are applied before the model reads the data, so a newer engineer starts from the right number.

Confidence Is Not the Same as Correctness.

AI does not turn bad data into good intelligence. Given poor-quality data, a model hallucinates or draws the wrong inference, and states it with confidence. On the mainframe, the raw feed is full of traps a model cannot infer.

Unaided model

Picks one of the three, which differ by tens of points, and never says which.

Grounded

All three kept distinct, and the answer names which one it used.

Governance proves the action was allowed. Nobody proves the answer was right.

Spot the Wrong Answer, Episode 1

Can You Find the Error?

Each week we show a real answer an unaided AI model gave on live z/OS data in our internal testing. Find what's wrong, then see the receipt that would have caught it.

New ConversationConnected to SOLISⁿ
Did anything go wrong on the production systems overnight?
No. There were zero error events recorded between 00:00 and 06:00 across the production LPARs. All clear.

Example, unaided model on raw SMF. Replace with the episode 1 transcript.

Would you act on this answer?

It's wrong. The collector stopped at 01:12. Zero events meant no data, not no problems. Silence was reported as good news.

Short answer: I can't say all clear. The collector stopped at 01:12, so there is no data for most of the night. Zero events here means a gap, not a quiet system.

Answers You Can Check, From the Assistant You Already Use.

SOLISⁿ decodes and curates live data from z/OS in a streaming pipeline and publishes one endpoint per analytic, so whichever assistant you run reads a finished, scoped number and states its basis.

How SOLISⁿ curates the data before the model sees it
  1. Live data from z/OS streaming
  2. Decode records read correctly
  3. Curate conventions applied, scoped
  4. One endpoint per analytic published
  5. Your assistant answers with its basis

Turning Storage Nightmares into Cloud Success

  • The Challenge

    Drowning in Tape Storage Costs

"We're maintaining rooms full of tape drives for data we rarely access, but regulations require us to keep it for 7-10 years. The hardware maintenance alone is killing our budget, not to mention the floor space we're wasting."

    The Solution

STRATUSn moves your archived data to cloud object storage at just pennies per gigabyte—typically reducing storage costs by 70%. No more tape hardware to maintain, no more floor space to waste. Your data remains fully accessible and compliant, with the mainframe maintaining complete control over retrieval when you need it.
