Migrating to OPTIMAn
Move to OPTIMAn without starting over. Your historical data and customizations come with you.
OPTIMA is a 21CS product that runs entirely on IBM Z. It collects SMF data from your z/OS systems as it is written, turns it into performance, cost and capacity measurements, and forecasts what your workload will need next. Ask it a question in plain English, run a what-if against your own history, and push the results to whichever reporting tool your organisation already uses.
Historical data and customisations carry across from your existing platform.
z/OS 3.1 or later on every system in scope: hub, spoke and stand-alone. Runs on any IBM Z hardware that supports the required software.
Stand-alone or multi-system hub-and-spoke. Hub, spoke, SMF Extractor, DataMover and Continuous Collector all run as z/OS started tasks. No distributed or off-platform server component unless Prismⁿ or Prism AI is added.
Db2 V13 or later on the hub or stand-alone system. A dedicated Db2 subsystem is strongly recommended.
IBM 64-bit Java 21 on hub and spoke systems for automated data gathering.
One DASD-only or coupling-facility log stream per SMF Extractor and per Continuous Collector. Any log stream shared across a sysplex must be coupling-facility based.
Db2 SYSADM for initial install only; DBADM for ongoing administration. Privileges granted through RACF groups (LRL, LRLSYS, LRLUSER by default) or directly to user IDs.
z/OS systems programmer, Db2 administrator (SYSADM), RACF administrator, OPTIMAⁿ administrator (DBADM).
Linux, Windows, or z/OS USS for the Prismⁿ web application on Apache Tomcat 11 or a compatible server, running Java 21.
Optional offline container bundle with AI agent plus Postgres 17 with pgvector. Supports x86-64 Linux or IBM s390x only and requires a reachable LLM endpoint.
English with fully translated Japanese panels.
BUSINESS VALUE
Root-cause analysis finds problems at the warning stage, before they become outages or SLA breaches.
Historical trends show where the environment is heading, so you right-size capacity and justify upgrades with evidence.
Consumption visibility exposes the drivers behind licensing spend, so MLC becomes a cost you can manage and forecast.
One view across every LPAR, sysplex and subsystem. One trusted source of truth for the whole Z environment.
Any team member pulls their own reports, so scarce experts focus on optimisation instead of requests.
A 30-minute demo, or a product preview on a sample of your workload.
